Frequently Asked Questions
Over the past few decades, more and more people have been seeking safe, natural, effective, and affordable healthcare options—and naturopathic medicine has risen to meet that demand. With training in both conventional science and natural therapies, naturopathic doctors are uniquely equipped to provide whole-person care that’s safe, personalized, and rooted in evidence.
As one of the original forms of medicine, naturopathic care continues to play a vital role in modern healthcare—offering patient-centered solutions that support true healing in today’s complex world.
If you’ve tried conventional treatments and still don’t feel like yourself, you’re not alone—and that’s where naturopathic medicine comes in. It’s a science-based approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and treating the root cause of your symptoms, not just covering them up with medications.
At True Health Centers, our Naturopathic Doctor is trained in both natural therapies and modern diagnostic tools. That means we use lab testing, clinical research, and proven natural treatments—like nutrition, herbal medicine, supplementation, and physical medicine—to help your body heal itself, safely and effectively.
We get it: you might be skeptical. But if you’re tired of quick fixes and want a long-term, personalized solution, naturopathic care could be exactly what you’ve been looking for. No hype—just real, thoughtful healthcare.
Your body has a natural ability to heal itself. Think about getting a cold, or cutting your finger. In most cases, you don't have to do anything. Your body just heals itself without you having to intervene in any way! Naturopathic medicine is designed to support your body's natural ability to heal itself. Therefore, it is for everyone and every condition!
Naturopathic medicine can be utilized for acute conditions like infections and digestive issues, or it can be used to treat chronic conditions such as pain, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and autoimmune conditions. Most people utilize the principles and treatments of naturopathic medicine to live a healthier life overall.
Naturopathic medicine is most commonly utilized for chronic conditions. Chronic conditions take a holistic, individualized approach, focusing on the root causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms. When this approach to medicine is taken you can actually reverse conditions you were told were irreversible.
While we cannot replace the emergency life saving services that conventional medicine practitioners provide, naturopathic medicine can, and should, be utilized in conjunction to create the conditions for health and healing!
Get ready to talk, because for once your doctor wants to hear about everything in great detail! In order to treat the whole you we have to get to know the whole you first.
The first visit lasts about two hours to ensure we leave no stone unturned. We normally have a good idea of what is going on with you at this point but we may want to order some specialty lab testing at this time. make sure this is different enough from the tab on naturopathic medicine and training
Yes! Naturopathic doctors (NDs) attend a four year, post graduate, naturopathic medical school accredited by the US Department of Education. These programs are very comparable to those of traditional medical schools attended my MDs and DOs. Naturopathic medical students take the same basic sciences, biomedical sciences, and diagnostic sciences classes. Naturopathic doctors must also pass national board exams before they can practice.
Where the programs differer is that NDs place more emphasis on natural treatment courses such as nutrition, supplementation, herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, and homeopathy. They still take pharmacology and even minor surgery classes, but not as many as MDs and DOs do.
In fact, naturopathic medical students typically undergo more classroom hours than traditional medical students. They just complete less residency hours because they are already in their specialty.
Nonetheless, naturopathic doctors are trained to be primary care providers and can even prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform minor surgeries depending on their state's scope of practice!
