Frequently Asked Questions
Dry needling is a highly effective therapy used to relieve muscle pain, tightness, and trigger points—those knots you feel that just won’t go away. It involves inserting very tiny acupuncture needles into specific muscles to help release tension, improve mobility, and reduce pain.
Despite the needles, it’s not acupuncture. Dry needling is based on modern anatomy and neurophysiology practices, not traditional Chinese medicine. It’s a technique used by trained medical professionals—especially physical therapists—to treat musculoskeletal issues at their root.
At True Health Centers, our physical therapists are highly trained in how muscles, nerves, and movement all connect. That means:
They don’t just treat the symptom—they identify the source of your pain.
They use dry needling as part of a larger, personalized treatment plan that may include stretching, strengthening, and hands-on therapy.
They ensure safety, precision, and effectiveness, especially if you have other conditions or are recovering from injury.
Dry needling can help with:
Chronic muscle tension
Headaches and migraines
Neck, back, and shoulder pain
Sports injuries and overuse issues
Sciatica and nerve-related pain
If you’ve tried everything and still feel stuck in pain, dry needling might be the missing piece. It’s quick, safe, and often provides immediate relief when performed by the right professional! Here is what our physical therapist has to say about it.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or just want to move better and feel stronger, our physical therapy team is here to support your journey—every step of the way.
Here’s what your first visit looks like at True Health Centers:
One-on-One Evaluation
Your appointment starts with a private, in-depth evaluation with your licensed physical therapist. We’ll take time to:
Understand your health history
Discuss your symptoms and goals
Evaluate how you move, your posture, strength, and flexibility
This isn’t a rushed appointment—we’re here to listen and get to the root of what’s going on. In fact, appointments are 60-90 minutes long for this reason!
Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on your evaluation, your therapist will create a customized care plan designed to relieve pain, improve mobility, and restore function—without relying on medications or surgery. Your plan may include:
Targeted exercises
Hands-on manual therapy
Stretching and mobility work
Dry needling or other specialty techniques (if appropriate)
Home exercises to support your progress between sessions
Education & Empowerment
We don’t just treat symptoms—we teach you how to take control of your recovery. You’ll leave your first visit with a clear understanding of what’s happening in your body and how we’ll work together to get you back to doing the things you love. You'll actually notice that our office is absent of the stereotypical machinery you see in a physical therapy office. This is by design. We don't want you to become reliant on us or our equipment. Instead we only prescribe evidence based therapies you can easily do at home!
Comfortable, Professional Environment
You’ll always work one-on-one with your therapist in a calm, supportive space. We’ll adjust your plan as you improve and make sure you feel heard and cared for throughout your journey.
Healing doesn’t have to be frustrating or impersonal. At True Health Centers, we offer physical therapy that’s thoughtful, effective, and completely focused on you.
We get this question a lot—and it’s a fair one. At True Health Centers, we’ve chosen not to work with insurance companies for physical therapy, and here’s why:
Your Care Shouldn’t Be Limited by Insurance Codes
Insurance companies often dictate what treatments are covered, how many visits you get, and how long each session can last—regardless of what’s actually best for your body. By staying out-of-network, we’re able to focus entirely on your needs, not the restrictions of a third-party payer.
More Time With Your Therapist
In an insurance-based clinic, therapists often juggle multiple patients at once due to billing limitations. Here, your sessions are one-on-one, with your full time devoted to personalized, hands-on care. That means faster progress and better outcomes.
Real Results—Not Just Checkboxes
Insurance typically only covers “reactive” care—meaning you need to be injured or in crisis to qualify. We believe in preventative, functional, and holistic care that addresses the root of your problem and helps you stay healthy long term.
Transparent Pricing, No Surprises
Without insurance in the middle, there are no unexpected bills weeks later. You’ll always know exactly what your care costs up front, with no hidden fees or confusing statements.
Not taking insurance allows us to give you the high-quality, personalized care you deserve—focused on results, not red tape. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you can use those funds for your physical therapy here!
